Tom Coleman’s Original Crystal Matte Workshop

Learn to apply crystal matte glazes for brighter, more beautiful color and crystals. Tom Coleman teaches you the correct temperature and atmosphere for the best crystal mattes ever! Bring up to 10 pieces of bisque ware made from cone 10 clay and bisque fired to 08. You can also ship it to us ahead of time.

Fee: $1000.00 with off-site housing. A 50% deposit of $500 holds your place in this workshop. Some on-site housing is available (fee for workshop with on-site housing is $1470.00) On-site we have a large kitchen, heated swimming pool, laundry facility and 24 hour access to the pottery.
Our 7 day workshops with Tom Coleman begin with a glaze demonstration and a firing. Plan to bring up to 10 pieces of bisque ware ranging in size from 6-10″ in height. Large bowls and platters take up too much room. We would like you to bring forms like bottles, vases, tea bowls, pitchers.

Images of Your Work We encourage our participants to bring a CD of your work with you to give to our resident photographer, Kelly McLendon. Kelly prepares a slide show for us to view on the last day of the workshop. Kelly will discuss ways to photograph your work for better results.
Workshop Participants will spend multiple days throwing and firing with Tom Coleman at Pottery West. Plan to bring bisque ware or ship it to us ahead of time. Bring any tools you are used to throwing and glazing with.
Daily Schedule Coffee is available in the pottery studio from 7:30 – 9:00 am. Workshops begin at 9:00 am. Spend the day in the air-conditioned pottery where we’ll be throwing, trimming, decorating and glazing with Tom. We work hands-on with Tom throughout the workshop. Lunches: Some people prefer to bring their lunch or go out for lunches. Glaze, load kilns, watch demos and throw. We wrap up the day around 4:00 pm each day. The pottery studio is open 24 hours so you’re welcome to continue working at your own pace.
Photo Special Our resident photographer, Kelly McLendon, is available to take professional images of your work while you participate in a workshop. Her rates are reasonable and she provides you with a CD of images to take home with you. For more information visit http://kelly-mclendon.com/
